You can determine if there is sufficient flow if you place a  thermometer  at the end of the tank away from the heater and seeing if the temperature  is the same on both sides.  Experts also say that you will not need a powerhead if your water is under two feet  or if your external filter  provides a strong enough outflow for a substantial current. 

In the end it will  be up to you if you want to purchase aquarium powerheads or not. If you are planning on upgrading your tank to something bigger, buying a powerhead may still be a good idea.

There’s an old saying in the business world, “time is money”; which basically means that in this world where life is moving so fast, there is a shortage of time.
